Begin your day with a delightful twist on a breakfast classic. This French toast, adorned with fresh raspberries and delicate floral notes, is perfect for a leisurely brunch or a special morning treat.

Not only does it look like it's straight out of a gourmet magazine, but it also tastes heavenly.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of thick-cut brioche or challah bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter, for frying
  • 1 cup of fresh raspberries
  • Edible flowers (such as elderflower) for garnish
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  2. Soak each slice of bread in the egg mixture for about 30 seconds on each side.

  3. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.

  4. Cook the soaked bread slices for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy at the edges.

  5. While the French toast is cooking, gently rinse the raspberries and edible flowers.

  6. Serve the French toast hot, topped with a generous helping of fresh raspberries, a sprinkling of edible flowers, and a drizzle of maple syrup.

There's something incredibly comforting about French toast, and when it's topped with the tartness of fresh raspberries and the subtle charm of edible flowers, it turns an ordinary breakfast into an extraordinary one. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and savor each bite of this blissful dish. Enjoy!

Please note, always ensure that any flowers you use in cooking are edible and have been sourced from a safe, chemical-free environment.
